About two dozen people rallied for abortion rights Saturday morning in Waimea.
The men and women of all ages stood along Mamalahoa Highway amid pelting rain and wind waving to passing motorists and displaying a variety of signs displaying messages in support of a woman’s right to choose to have abortion.
The rally, one of several held this week on the Big Island, follows the Monday leak of a Supreme Court draft opinion that would throw out the landmark Roe v. Wade abortion rights ruling that has stood for a half century.
